The pot everybody on the block knew about.
Every neighborhood has that one kitchen. The one where the pot is always on, the door is open, and somebody is sending you home with a container you're supposed to bring back. Barrio Verde comes from that kitchen.
It's chile verde the way we grew up eating it in Southern California: pork cooked until it gives, a green sauce with real heat, and enough to share. Over tortillas, over rice, straight from the jar. Nobody's judging.
We're still small and we like it that way. Each batch is made by hand, jarred, and handed off to the people who showed up for it. If you want in on the next one, get on the list.
Made like it's for family, because most of the time it is.
